Alison Weiner, an improvising musician with a rich and diverse musical background spanning jazz, R&B, rock, pop, and reggae, offers private music lessons for beginning to intermediate levels, ages 5 and up. Drawing on her extensive experience in performance, composition, and teaching (including a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and a Master of Arts in Composition), Alison believes that music is a language accessible to everyone, regardless of preferred style. Her lessons emphasize musical conversation and improvisation as key elements in developing your unique musical voice.

  • A Personalized Approach: Alison starts by understanding your current musical abilities and your goals, tailoring her instruction to meet your individual needs and aspirations. Whether you're comfortable with rhythm but struggle with reading music, or vice versa, she will work with your strengths to facilitate growth.

    • Lesson Frequency: Weekly or bi-weekly lessons are recommended for optimal progress, though flexible arrangements are possible.

    • Fees: Lessons are $140 for 4 lessons (30 minutes each) at her studio in downtown Saxapahaw. Alison is open to discussing fees to ensure music remains accessible.

    • Recitals/Performances: Encouraged as valuable learning opportunities, organized by Alison at no additional charge.
